Christmas fun facts

Each year we begin our Christmas with traditions that we grew up with.  We feast on great food, enjoy the company of friends & family and hopefully a little time off work too!  There are however some pretty crazy things you may not know about Christmas, we went on a search to see what we could find behind the conventional Christmas stories we know! Christmas customs – where did these traditions come from?

While we prepare for the upcoming Christmas season with advent calendars, decorating our trees, putting lights up and hanging our stockings; have you ever wondered how these traditions became part of our celebrations? Well, we did & here’s what we found! Christmas trees were first decorated in 16th century Germany. They chose fir trees for both indoors & out. Decorations included apples, roses, gilded candies and colored paper. It was believed in the Middle Ages to symbolize the Garden of Eden. Its December 1st which means we get to start out yummy advent calendars and pull out the Christmas decorations, lights and all!
