It feels a little bit silly to be writing about indoor parties when all I want is to be outside in this glorious sunshine! But if you know anything about BC weather, you know it can change in a heartbeat. Today can be a picturesque summer wonderland, but for all we know tomorrow could be a raging monsoon.
Since the weather can be so questionable this time of year, it can make planning a birthday party even more difficult. Having a party indoors is the safest option, but lots of people in a smaller, enclosed space can be tricky! If you’re planning an indoor party you can see our pre-designed packages here, and be sure to check out our top 5 tips for a successful indoor event!
Planning a birthday party can be a lot of work.
Follow these tips to make things easier, or call in the experts and let us do it for you!
Just because you’re inside doesn’t mean you can’t be active. Old fashioned games, like musical chairs, pin the tail on the donkey (or spider on the web or star in the galaxy or pretty bow on the princess dress or … you get the idea) and activity stations are always a hit. The specifics, of course, will depend on their ages, gender and the party theme. You may set up Barbie and doll stations or lego and playdough fun for the younger ones. Balloon popping races, simple puzzle making competitions are kid favourites too. The list is endless!
4. Set the Right Mood
When you’re planning a birthday party some of the first things that come to mind are the activities, decorations and the food. All too often the music is forgotten. Don’t forget to set the stage for a perfect party atmosphere. Whether it’s a diva dance party or a superhero showdown, the right soundtrack will take the whole event to the next level.
3. Be Ready for Kodak Moments
Indoor photography can be tricky! Do you have extra batteries, or is yours charged? Test your camera settings before the fun starts and you’ll be ready for each picture-perfect moment before it happens. If you want to do some posed photos, silly accessories like hats, boa’s and big sunglasses liven things up perfectly! After the party choose your best photo and email it with a thank you note to the parents.
2. Keep it Short
We find that for most parties anything over 3 hours is too long. That’s the point where the kids start to get tired and bored, no matter how many exciting activities you have planned! If the entertainment is there for 1.5-2 hours then you still have time for cake and gifts and everyone gets to leave on a high note, still excited with a fantastic memory of your amazing party.
1. Location, Location, Location!
Choose the right venue! Just because it’s raining outside doesn’t mean you need to stay home. We work together with a wide variety of indoor venues (from elegant halls to indoor beaches!) and would be happy to help you find the one that works for you!
